چکیده

We consider the problem of organizing large scale earth science raster data to ef ciently handle queries for identifying regions whose parameters fall within certain range values speci ed by the queries This problem seems to be critical to enabling basic data mining tasks such as determining associations between physical phenomena and spatial factors detecting changes and trends and content based retrieval We assume that the input is too large to t in internal memory and hence focus on data structures and algorithms that minimize the I O bounds A new data structure called a Tree of Regions ToR is introduced and involves a combination of an R tree and e cient representation of regions It is shown that such a data structure enables the handling of range queries in an optimal I O time under certain reasonable assump tions Experimental results for a variety of multi valued earth science data illustrate the fast execution times of a wide range of queries as predicted by our theoretical analysis

Optimizing Regular Path Expressions Using Graph Schemas

Several languages, such as LOREL and UnQL, support querying of semi-structured data. Others, such as WebSQL and WebLog, query Web sites. All these languages model data as labeled graphs and use regular path expressions to express queries that traverse arbitrary paths in graphs. Naive execution of path expressions is ineecient, however, because it often requires exhaustive graph search. We descr...

External Plagiarism Detection based on Human Behaviors in Producing Paraphrases of Sentences in English and Persian Languages

With the advent of the internet and easy access to digital libraries, plagiarism has become a major issue. Applying search engines is one of the plagiarism detection techniques that converts plagiarism patterns to search queries. Generating suitable queries is the heart of this technique and existing methods suffer from lack of producing accurate queries, Precision and Speed of retrieved result...

A Prototype System for Value-Range Queries

We have developed algorithms for valuerange queries of Earth science data with an area size constraint. The value-range condition is approximately satisfied by a histogram clustering technique with a data pyramid model. The result is the high resolution areas (points) on which the value range condition is satisfied. The area size condition is achieved by combining convex hull and point-inpolygo...

Spatial Data Reallocation Based on Multidimensional Range Queries - A Contribution to Data Management for the Earth Sciences

Earth scientists, by deenition, work in an interdis-ciplinary environment and therefore collect and disseminate data using distinct methods, depending on whether the associated information arises during eld measurements, arrives via remote sensing, or represents simulation results. When calculating the global radiation over one of the oceans, for instance, it is essential that cloud data from a...
